The Akron Marathon Race Series is a major fundraiser for Akron Children’s Hospital in its efforts to serve the children and families of Summit County, Ohio, where National Interstate maintains its corporate headquarters. Many National Interstate employees, friends and family members participate in the races, volunteer during the event and enjoy the entertainment activities.
The “Hero Zones” return this year, recognizing children who have faced and overcome a difficult illness. This year, the 8K & 1 Mile race will honor Akron-native, 18-year-old Keegan Lind, stepson of a National Interstate employee, as its featured hero.
