Great American Insurance Company writes its first policy in 1872.	National Interstate Insurance Company is formed in 1989 with Great American as an investor, to initially serve the passenger transportation industry. Vanliner Insurance Company launches in 1978 by a group of moving and storage operators to provide insurance solutions for their members.	Our business grows by acquiring Vanliner, expanding product offerings in niche transportation markets, and developing insurance innovation through customized group captive programs, safety advancements, and technology.   National Interstate becomes a proud member of Great American Insurance Group.	As highly respected market leaders of transportation insurance, National Interstate and Vanliner continues to expand our market presence and have grown our gross premium to over $1B.   We aren’t slowing down in our mission to provide customized and innovative insurance solutions for the many industries we serve.
