About us: Community Engagement
We do that through:
National Interstate is committed to our involvement in the community. Staying engaged in the neighborhoods we live and work in and keeping a "be a good citizen" attitude is simply the right thing to do, and provides meaningful opportunities for the National Interstate team to give back to the community.
Corporate-wide volunteer initiatives:
Throughout the year we host events, volunteer time and help raise money for local organizations including The Humane Society of Summit County, West Creek Conservancy, Volunteers of America, Earth Day Coalition, Ronald McDonald House of Akron, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Akron Marathon Support:
We began our partnership with the Akron Marathon in 2014 and have increased our level of support each year since. In 2016, we became a sponsor of the entire Race Series, a three-race series spread out over several months. Volunteers donated their time to staff fluid stations during all three races and we sponsored our employees who choose to run. Donations raised during our corporate “Spirit Weeks” and Marathon raffles benefited the Akron Children’s Hospital.
The Emergency Assistance Center:
Located in nearby Northfield, Ohio, the center serves the community in their mission, “to provide emergency food assistance, personal hygiene items and clothing to residents in need.” Annual charity drives and employee monetary and food donations helped provide close to 2,500 meals to local families in need to date.
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank:
Each year, our employees join efforts to support the Foodbank by providing donations during our annual Harvest for Hunger food drive. We also make donations to the Foodbank on a quarterly basis. Each time an employee refers a candidate for employment and he or she is hired and successfully completes 60 days with the company, we donate $50.00.
